Resumé & Background

Mission statement: Through client engagements the aim is to improve the managerial ability of individual's and coherent teams by ensuring that responsibilities are clear, ownership is well defined and that the ethos of making it happen through the adoption of pragmatism is paramount.

It has always been my quest to challenge existing working practices, to ensure that quality and effectiveness are embedded within working practices and to simplify everything to maximise operational productivity. Augmenting the productivity of dedicated employees with the appropriate investment in complementary technology dictates the need for a successful alignment of business and technology strategies. Without that synergy it is very difficult to secure let alone maintain any performance improvements, not forgetting of course the need to realise the benefits of the the initial and ongoing investment in technology.

Successfully transforming an organisation is a complex operation that requires a variety of skills to ensure that the change will be implemented in a way that will realise benefits offered. Keeping that transformation as simple and as workable as possible has been my primary focus over the years.

As an independent consultant I am aware of the importance of sound, simple, pragmatic managerial working practices in ensuring that productivity and quality are not compromised when implementing necessary change programmes.

I can offer strategy and operational consultancy advice as well as coaching to those business executives whether business sponsors, CIO/CTO and suppliers. Team development is also key whether it is just with internal staff, or a combination of suppliers and customers. Anything is possible, and everything is worthwhile.
Background

Stephen has many years experience of integrating technology and business strategies within large corporate organisations, the most recent being the IT Director for Ernst & Young UK. Being head of IT and a key member of a shared service organisation, Stephen had to deal with the many demands facing senior management: i.e. do more with less, ensure service quality is not compromised, embrace the concepts of outsourcing, and take advantage of the benefits of globalisation, to name but a few.

Prior to holding a senior managerial position within a large corporation Stephen held positions as a consultant for government departments and suppliers, and as a senior academic. Stephen is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a member of the Institute of Directors
