Technology Management

The effective management of technology is (although one could say it always has been) very important as business demands and expectations are high and the operational constraints are ever constricting. The ability to secure the return on investment whilst minimising business risk are key aspects of nearly every business strategy. Developing effective governance is cornerstone to ensuring the alignment of technology and business strategies.

Governance of technology now extends beyond the remit of the Chief Information Officer. Corporate IT no longer sits on its own, there is an inherent link with business technology and its applications so that their effective management requires a holistic approach (shared service centres have a major role here). The roles of CIO, Chief Technology Officer, Business Sponsor and indeed suppliers are crucial in the governance of technology. Not surprisingly the abilities of key staff are crucial in making it happen.

The success of many business transformation programmes is underpinned by strong governance. To that extent it is imperative that business shareholders are happy with the governance process as it will provide the confidence to push ahead with any proposed changes. If you would like a review of your governing processes or have a discussion around any aspect of your technology management then please contact us. Choosing the right move at the earliest opportunity, and certainly before any investment committment, significantly contributes to the process of making it happen and will underpin success.
